They're a side who have experienced a revival in recent weeks and that puts Southend in a great position to wrap up three points here.
Chris Powell's side sit fifth in the form charts with just one loss in their last five, currently enjoying an unbeaten run of four games with three wins during that time.
Their away form has also been impressive, winning three of their last four on the road.
In comparison, Gillingham are winless in their last four home games with three of those games being defeats.
They've won just one of their last ten encounters in all competitions and were hammered 4-0 by Tottenham U23s in the Checkatrade Trophy last time out.
Southend's upturn in form has seen them charge towards the play-off positions and they sit just five points off the top-six. Given the fact that Charlton and Luton both play teams sitting above them, they can view this as an opportunity to move further up the table.
A big concern for Gillingham is their defensive record. They are scoring goals, 15 is more than any other side in the bottom-nine, but their 20 goals conceded is the fourth worst in the division.
There is a potential for goals here as well, which is why a Southend win with over 2.5 goals looks good value at 13/5.
Best bet: Southend to win and over 2.5 goals in the match at 13/5
It's a real cliche six-pointer at the bottom of the Sky Bet League One standings as Oxford and Plymouth meet with just two wins between them this season.
The hosts sit bottom of the table with just six points in 12 games and 23 goals conceded. Plymouth haven't done much better as they are just one point ahead, although they are on a two-game unbeaten run and won last time out.
Any side struggles if they can't win in front of their own fans, and that's the issue for Oxford with their only victory coming at the Kassam Stadium.
Plymouth have picked up points in recent encounters on the road, while Oxford's last three home games have all ended in 2-1 defeats.
It's a game that can go either way, but the 29/10 available on an away victory looks overpriced when you factor in their opposition's poor start as well.
The pressure is firmly on the hosts here as they'll be expected to win this one given home advantage. There are questions as to how they will handle that pressure and it could play into Plymouth's hands.
Best bet: Plymouth to win at 29/10
There is the potential for goals at Glanford Park where Scunthorpe meet Peterborough, two sides who have high counts in both the for and against columns.
Peterborough lead the division in scoring with 28, while the hosts have seen a huge 44 games in total in their 12 games so far this season, an average of 3.6 goals a game.
Jason Cummings and Matt Godden have (rightly) taken the plaudits with 13 goals between them and six assists, although there is value in backing another attack-minded player to strike here.
Siriki Dembele has enjoyed a terrific start to the season as is firmly in the mix when it comes to goals scored for Steve Evans' men. Switching between right wing, left wing and attacking midfield, he has three goals and five assists.
The 22-year-old has had a direct impact in six games so far this season, four of the eight goals he has been involved in have also come away from home.
You'd expect goals in this encounter based on track record, and with opportunities there to strike, Dembele has already highlighted that he is a player who can take them.
Best bet: Siriki Dembele to score anytime at 18/5
