Saturday's FA Cup games

The fourth round of the FA Cup continues on Saturday with a decent slate of matches to follow on from the obvious tie of the round being played out on Friday night at the Emirates.

There are no real stand out ties with Manchester City the only real 'big gun' being in action, but there are several teams of interest still involved who should really have an eye on going deep this competition.

We'll be down to four of the top six remaining after Friday night's game so the likes of Everton, Watford, Wolves and Brighton all fit the bill for teams who look safe as houses in the Premier League so can go full throttle at the FA Cup.

All four of should get through and with a kind draw in the fifth round all of a sudden they're into the quarter-finals when anything can happen they're just a couple of wins away from a Wembley semi-final.

Newcastle v Watford

Let's start off at St James' Park where the Hornets are favourites, but not by enough in my book as they will be the only one of the two really going all-out to win this game.

Rafa Benitez has nailed his colours to the mast about this competition and he's tried to get knocked out of it twice by Blackburn, only for his side to scrape through somehow.

Against a Watford side 12 points ahead of them in the Premier League and currently occupying the 'best of the rest' slot, they'd struggle to get anything from the game with both best elevens on the field - if Benitez makes changes then Watford should have no problem.

Prediction: Newcastle 0-2 Watford (Sky Bet odds:11/1)

Best bet: Watford to win at 7/5

Portsmouth v QPR

League One leaders Portsmouth entertain middle-of-the-pack Championship outfit QPR at Fratton Park with the home side well-fancied favourites despite being in the league below.

Rangers are only seven points off the play-off places but they look a world away from making up that ground on the likes of Derby at times and they're rightly underdogs.

Scoring goals hasn't been an asset for Steve McClaren's side and Pompey, who beat Norwich in the previous round, got back to winning ways last timeout in the Checkatrade Trophy after successive league defeats - and are certainly taking this one seriously.

Prediction: Portsmouth 1-0 QPR (Sky Bet odds: 15/2)

Best bet: Portsmouth to win at 6/4

Brighton v West Brom

This should be a good game but there's no doubt West Brom have other irons in the fire with them sitting third in the Sky Bet Championship and looking to muscle in on the automatic promotion places.

Darren Moore is withouth the likes of James Morrison, Chris Brunt, Matt Phillips and Jake Livermore but would be making changes anyway given their position in the league.

Chris Hughton's Seagulls have been a formidable outfit at home in the Premier League this season and are relatively free of trouble so have no reason not to take a run at the FA Cup. It'll be a good atmosphere with over 3,000 Baggies fans making the trip but they look outmatched.

Prediction: Brighton 2-1 West Brom (Sky Bet odds: 15/2)

Best bet: Brighton to win at Evens

Shrewsbury v Wolves

Having put out Liverpool and beaten Chelsea and Tottenham to go along with draws against Manchester City and United, Wolves represent arguably the best FA Cup bet outside the top six given the strength of their squad.

And there's no reason to suspect that either Nuno Espirito Santo takes it easy with his team selection or his side take the short trip to League One Shrewsbury lightly.

The Shrews caused an upset against Stoke in their third round replay, but that's their only win in the last eight and Wolves will not make the same mistake Stoke did in looking beyond the hosts.

Prediction: Shrewsbury 0-3 Wolves (Sky Bet odds: 9/1)

Best bet: Wolves to win to nil at 5/4
