Sack race odds: Frank Lampard favourite to be next Premier League manager to leave after Manchester City defeat

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is the favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave their position after his side were beaten 3-1 by Manchester City on Sunday.

The Blues sit eighth in the standings, seven points off Liverpool at the top with Jurgen Klopp's side holding a game in-hand as they take on Southampton on Monday.

The latest defeat moved Lampard into 11/10 favourite with Sky Bet to be the second manager to leave their post in the top-flight this season - the first being Slaven Bilic who departed struggling West Brom.

Chelsea have picked up just four points from their last six Premier League outings, with four losses coming across that period. They have managed one clean sheet across their last eight games in all competitions.

Lampard was the Premier League's biggest spender during the last transfer window with over £200million dished out in outgoing fees. Kai Havertz joined for £72m from Bayer Leverkusen while Timo Werner made the £47m switch from RB Leipzig but neither has been able to make an impact.

Doubts about Lampard's future at the club were further supported by a report from The Athletic which said that Chelsea are already looking at potential replacements. They claim that his job is under 'serious threat'.

Their current struggles are highlighted by the fact that Chelsea's points return after 17 games is the lowest it has been in five seasons. The Blues are currently 11 points worse off at this stage than they were under Maurizio Sarri in 2018/19 - he was the man who Lampard replaced.

Next Premier League manager to leave (odds via Sky Bet)

  • Frank Lampard - 11/10
  • Chris Wilder - 3/1
  • Roy Hodgson - 7/1
  • Steve Bruce - 8/1
  • Mikel Arteta - 10/1
  • Sam Allardyce - 10/1
