Champions League final tickets and costs: Liverpool and Tottenham will receive 16,613 tickets each in Madrid on June 1

Liverpool and Tottenham have received 16,613 tickets each for the Champions League final in Madrid on June 1 and the fans have blasted the costs they'll incur to attend.

The Reds sealed their place in a second successive Champions League final thanks to their stunning 4-0 victory over Barcelona which sealed a 4-3 aggregate triumph.

Incredibly, Tottenham also defied a 3-0 aggregate deficit a night later as they beat Ajax 3-2 thanks to a Lucas Moura hat-trick to progress on the away goals rule.

The final will be staged at the home of Atletico Madrid - the Metropolitano Stadium - on Saturday June 1 and despite the capacity of 67,830, both clubs will receive just 16,613 tickets apiece for their supporters while the rest will go to the 'UEFA football family'.

Liverpool announced the top-priced tickets will cost £513 while around 3200 category four tickets will be available for £60.

However, both club's supporter trusts have united to condemn profiteering by hotels and travel companies as well as ticket allocation and cost issues.

In a joint statement issued by the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust and Spirit of Shankly, calls have been made for a cap on ticket pricing, transparency over allocation and consumer protection measures to be introduced to stop prices being forced up.

"This has been a sensational European Champions League campaign for Tottenham and Liverpool," the statement read. "Fans of both clubs are now looking forward to what will be a special occasion in Madrid on 1 June.

"But our joy at reaching the final is tempered by the prices of travel, accommodation and tickets, and by the allocation of tickets.

"Prices of flights to Madrid and surrounding towns have rocketed by up to 840 per cent. Hotel rooms are over £1,000 a night and we are hearing stories of room bookings being cancelled and resold at vastly inflated rates.

"Ticket prices of in excess of £500 are also extortionate. And there needs to be transparency from UEFA and our clubs in how tickets are priced and allocated.

"For many fans, this final is not a one-off event. It is the culmination of a journey that has seen fans spending thousands of pounds travelling to six cities in each club's campaign, bringing the spectacle and atmosphere that is a key part of the product so prized by television. It is time to stop cashing in on fan loyalty."

Klopp also objects to the opportunism of the travel industry, while rounding on UEFA for their selection of host city for the Europa League final.

"These decisions, they must be much more sensible. It just looks irresponsible," the Liverpool boss said.

"A solution maybe, in the cities who get the final, maybe they have to make a price cut? I heard a room that is normally £100 is now £2700? Just crazy!

"Madrid is unbelievably expensive but who decides Baku for a European final? Or Kiev? I don't know what the people who decide these things have for breakfast."

The ticket allocations for the Europa League final are even smaller than for the Champions League showpiece as Arsenal and Chelsea completed a clean sweep of the continent's top two competitions.

The clubs will only receive approximately 6,000 tickets for their final in Baku's Olympic Stadium on May 29.

The ground is 2,850 miles from London and has an official capacity of 64,000.

Arsenal have already insisted they are working with UEFA to gain a larger percentage of seats to add to the "disappointing ticket allocation".

UEFA announced in February that 37,500 tickets for the Europa League final would go on sale to general public worldwide through their website. It is understood that the size of this figure is to prevent an empty stadium.

Apart from the allocation to the clubs, other tickets are given to the local organising committee, national associations, commercial partners and broadcasters and to serve the corporate hospitality programme.
