Roy Hodgson and Steve Cooper

Premier League sack race odds: Roy Hodgson new favourite in the market

Roy Hodgson is the favourite in the sack race market to be the next Premier League manager to leave their position, with speculation mounting that Crystal Palace want to appoint Steve Cooper as his replacement.

Reports have previously credited Palace with interest in the now former Nottingham Forest boss, and since his sacking by the East Midlands outfit just before Christmas have begun to intensify.

It is now believed that a negative result against Brentford on Saturday could lead to Hodgson's departure, with the Palace board completing due diligence over whether Forest may be due compensation should they appoint Cooper as their new manager.

Next Premier League manager to leave (odds via Sky Bet)

  • Roy Hodgson - 4/5
  • Erik ten Hag - 4/1
  • Eddie Howe - 6/1
  • Vincent Kompany - 6/1
  • Mauricio Pochettino - 10/1
  • Marco Silva - 20/1

Odds correct at 0930 GMT (29/12/23)

The latest spike in pressure on Hodgson comes following a late 2-1 defeat by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night courtesy of Noni Madueke's 89th minute penalty.

It extended Palace's winless run to eight games and left them just three points above the relegation spot of the Premier League relegation zone.
