Manchester United news: Odds slashed on Jose Mourinho leaving after Carabao Cup defeat

Odds on Jose Mourinho exiting Manchester United have been cut from 7/1 to 3/1 after their Carabao Cup third round defeat to Derby County.

Sky Bet are offering a next Premier League manager to leave market and the 55-year-old is favourite, ahead of Cardiff's Neil Warnock (9/2) and West Ham's Manuel Pellegrini (11/2).

The Portuguese's relationship with the club has appeared to be strained after a frustrating summer of transfer activity, while they have picked up 10 points from 18 in their opening six Premier League games of the season with his style of football on home turf often questioned.

Meanwhile, reports of a fallout with Paul Pogba emerged before kick-off on Tuesday evening.

He reportedly told the Frenchman he will never captain the club again and in a pre-match interview with Sky Sports, Mourinho said the midfielder was being rested for the visit of Frank Lampard's side.

Mourinho later told the broadcaster he had made the decision for Pogba to 'no longer be second captain', but insisted there was 'no fallout...no problems at all'.

The Sky Bet Championship outfit beat the Red Devils on penalties as Mourinho lost to his former player.

Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson struck a stunning free-kick in the second half after Juan Mata's opener, with Jack Marriott netting for the visitors late on.

Substitute Marouane Fellaini scored an injury-time equaliser to take it to spot-kicks, where Phil Jones' effort was saved by Scott Carson which proved decisive.
