Leeds United host Wolves on Wednesday night as they look to bounce back from Friday’s defeat against Middlesbrough.
The clash, which is live on Sky Sports, will see Wolves look to re-establish their huge gap over second-place Cardiff City. Dropped points in recent weeks, combined with Cardiff facing Barnsley on Tuesday night, could see Wolves just three points clear at the top by the time kick-off comes around.
Leeds’ hopes of a play-off finish are drifting further away as the weeks pass, but they’ll be looking to pick up as many points as they can with Paul Heckingbottom aiming for a strong finish to the season.
The Whites have struggled to secure points in the second-half of the season, with victory over Brentford at the end of February their first win of 2018 in all competitions.
Wolves’ season so far has seen them labelled as the best team to play in this league by some, including managers within the division, but they have uncharacteristically dropped points recently and find themselves on a run of three games without victory.
Nuno's men were held to draws by both Norwich City and Preston North End before in-form Fulham took all three points in their meeting at Craven Cottage.
Paul Heckingbottom took a point off Wolves last time he met them, that coming in the 0-0 draw when he was in charge of Barnsley back in mid-January.
Leeds have drawn against three of the Championship’s top-six at Elland Road this season, and will approach this one looking for at least a point to add to their tally.
Wolves have seen draws in three of their last six Championship games away from home and may be feeling the pressure if Cardiff can secure a result against Barnsley.
For me, a draw looks good value as it can be found around the 12/5 mark. It’ll be a big ask for Leeds to get three points but based on their last couple of performances at home they are capable of a point.
With Leeds’ defensive issues, and the quality that both sides possess in attack, goals may be another market to explore.
Five of the West Yorkshire side’s last six games have finished with over 2.5 goals, and that can be found as big as 13/10 for the same to happen on Wednesday night.
If Leeds are to get onto the scoresheet, they’ll be looking towards Pierre-Michel Lasogga as the man to do so. He’s failed to score in his last two, but found the net five times in the six games prior to that. He can be found at 31/10 in some places to score anytime in the 90 minutes.
Score prediction: Leeds 2-2 Wolves (Sky Bet odds: 16/1)
Best bet: Over 2.5 goals at 13/10
Alternative bet: Both teams to score in the second half at 3/1
