Kalvin Phillips next club odds: West Ham backed to sign Man City midfielder

West Ham have been backed into a heavy odds-on to sign out-of-favour Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips in the January transfer window.

Juventus and then Newcastle had been the market leaders, with Crystal Palace then also seeing a huge price cut after Roy Hodgson openly said the club would like to sign Phillips, 28, on loan.

But it is West Ham who have now emerged as his most likely destination this month.

The Hammers' squad has been decimated by AFCON call-ups and injuries, with David Moyes forced to name five inexperienced youngsters, three defenders and a goalkeeper in their squad for the 2-2 draw at Sheffield United on Sunday.

That match which saw West Ham produce the "worst display" of Moyes' time in charge according to the Irons boss.

Kalvin Phillips celebrates his goal against Red Star

Phillips has barely featured during 18 months at The Etihad.

The England midfielder scored his first City goal in his 30th appearance by converting a penalty in their 3-2 win over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League last month.

It was only his sixth start for the club since joining from Leeds for £45m in the summer of 2022.
