As is the case with many Carabao Cup ties, both sides are expected to make a significant number of changes for the game at Turf Moor.

Jack Ross has already outlined how Saturday's Sky Bet League One clash against Peterborough is their priority which will see a number of fringe players come in.

Sean Dyche will also use the contest to shuffle his pack in positions across the pitch. The likes of Joe Hart, Charlie Taylor and Danny Drinkwater are all set to feature from the off.

Alongside Drinkwater in midfield is likely to be Jeff Hendrick, although it's unclear if he'll occupy a more central role.

Robbie Brady is injured and Johann Berg Gudmundsson came off with a knock in the game against Wolves at the weekend - that means Dyche has to decide whether to use Dwight McNeil or push Hendrick out wide.

The midfield will be the key area in this clash, particularly with a weaker Sunderland side expected. For Hendrick, it's a chance to kick start his goalscoring tally for the season.

Often 'weakened' sides can see a game bring goals, and the same can be said for this encounter in Lancashire.

An all-Premier League contest as Newcastle welcome Leicester to St. James' Park.

Both come into the game on the back of great away wins at the weekend. Newcastle secured a shock three points away at Tottenham while Leicester got the better of Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Leicester captain Wes Morgan has spoken about their desire to enjoy a cup run this season alongside a strong league campaign.

"Speaking on behalf of everybody, it would be good to have something to celebrate once again and to have something we’ve accomplished this season so we can look back and say, ‘Yes, we’ve had a good season’.

"We’ve had discussions in pre-season with the manager and the staff. We want a real good cup run this season.

"We face Newcastle on Wednesday and we know it’s not going to be an easy task, but we’ve earmarked the FA Cup and Carabao Cup competitions, where we can go on a bit of a cup run.

"I think if you’re winning all the games you’re playing in, it breeds a winning mentality throughout the team."

They can wrap up a victory on Wednesday given the injury situation at Newcastle. That will force Steve Bruce into making changes whether he wants to or not.

Jamaal Lascelles (calf), Miguel Almiron (ankle), Allan Saint-Maximin (hamstring), Christian Atsu (muscle), Joelinton (groin) and Fabian Schar (knock) are all doubtful for the tie.

Leicester will also make a couple of changes and I'd expect to see Harvey Barnes given a start given his winning goal from the bench on Saturday (you can watch that above, it's a beauty).

His foot like a traction engine strike was enough to secure three points; although it was hardly a surprise given what we have seen of him since his senior breakthrough last season.

A best price of 4/1 is available on Barnes netting anytime in this one, which is well worth considering given the team news.
