Two-time world darts champion Adrian Lewis has been suspended by the PDC after an oche altercation with fellow player Jose Justicia during Friday's UK Open qualifier clash in Wigan.
Footage of the event appeared to show 'Jackpot' pushing Justicia in the chest at the end of their heated quarter-final, which Lewis won 6-5, before stewards and security intervened.
It all seemed to stem from a row during and after the eighth leg when the Spaniard felt Lewis had stumbled into him at the oche while we was throwing his final dart of a visit.
Lewis subsequently directed some expletives at Justicia, who was seen laughing, and is heard saying: “You’re trying to p**s me off, I’m telling you."
The aggravated former world number one then refused to let the matter drop even after victory.
The PDC later tweeted: "Following a review of the incidents which occurred in his match with Jose Justicia at Friday's UK Open qualifier, the Darts Regulation Authority has suspended Adrian Lewis with immediate effect pending a full investigation in to the matter. The player has the right of appeal."
The 33-year-old, who lost his place in the Premier League Darts line-up following a disappointing and injury-disrupted 2017, was defeated by eventual winner Michael van Gerwen in the semi-finals.
