The England and Wales Cricket Board have congratulated leading figures in the women's game after their achievements received high-profile recognition this week.

The England national side, winners of the World Cup, World Twenty20 and the Ashes this year, were named as team of the year at the Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards on Tuesday.

Sussex player Holly Colvin, 20, won the young sportswoman award while former England captain Rachael Heyhoe-Flint received a lifetime achievement award.

ECB chief executive David Collier said: "This has been an outstanding year for women's cricket in England and Wales and I would like to congratulate all involved not only for being honoured with these awards but also for the hard work and dedication they have shown for a number of years to get to this level.

"I would also like to congratulate Rachael Heyhoe-Flint on her award. Rachael has been a superb ambassador for our sport and has championed the development of women's cricket in this country for many years."
